A couple of RAF servicemen and a policeman will need to take bike maintenance gear as well as walking boots when they take on the national Three Peaks Challenge.
Sgt Paul Vernon and senior aircraftman Iain Cross, along with friend Det Sgt Anthony Harvey will not only take on the climbs involved in reaching the top of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon on foot, but will also cycle the distances between them, the Lynn News reports.
This will add 475 miles of road to their trek, alongside several thousand feet of climbing up rough mountainous terrain, with the military intelligence analysts dreaming up the challenge while on duty in Afghanistan last year.
Mr Vernon said: "The three peaks are difficult to climb but we wanted to increase the challenge."
The plan is to raise £1,344 - £1 for every metre of the height of Ben Nevis - for leukaemia charity the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Volunteers from conservation group the John Muir Trust climbed Ben Nevis at the end of May and cleaned up several sackfuls of rubbish from around the summit, helping to ensure a better environment for those climbing the mountain this summer.
