An area of mountain land on the Snowdon massif has been sold at auction, with the land including the summits and farmland below.
Known as Helfa Fawr, the 4 sq km of land includes the peaks of Moel Cynghorion and Foel Goch and has gone to an unknown bidder for £1 million, who may wish to don his or her walking gear and enjoy climbing the peaks.
Llanberis-based auctioneers Kivells noted that the plot includes some derelict former farm buildings which might be converted into holiday cottages, something that could interest walkers looking to enjoy taking on Snowdon and the many other peaks in the area.
Moel Cynghorion is the highest point in the plot at 2,211 ft above sea level, while the area is crossed by a path from the Snowdon Ranger hut to Llanberis.
Other outlying summits over 2,000 ft include Y Lliwedd, Yr Aran and Moel Eilio, with the latter being further along the ridge that includes Foel Goch.
