The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Authority has introduced new rules that ban wild camping on a stretch of the eastern shore of the loch.
It took the decision after a public enquiry found that 60 per cent of respondents were in favour of restricting the pitching of tents between the villages of Drymen and Rowardennan to existing established camp sites.
Director of conservation and visitor experience at the authority Grant Moir said the decision had been prompted by incidences of antisocial behaviour by some of those camping by the eastern shore.
He said the authority now hopes to make the area "a family friendly visitor destination where people can come and take in the stunning views, where the facilities are first class and all of it is enjoyed in a responsible manner".
Those staying in the vicinity can also go caravanning, as there are parks for these along the shore.
Loch Lomond's eastern shore offers access to Ben Lomond, the southernmost Munro and the closest to the heavily populated areas of the west of Scotland in and around Glasgow.
