A "strenuous" walk around the northern edges of Kinder Scout will require good walking boots and waterproof jackets to complete, the Peak District National Park Authority has stated.
Park rangers will be running the event on January 30th, which starts with a rendezvous at the Bowden Bridge car park near Hayfield at 10:30 GMT and will end at 17:00, by which time twilight will be setting in.
The eight-mile trek will follow the northern edges of the plateau, most of which is over 2,000 ft above sea level, with a highpoint of 2,088 ft.
As well as the climb and the length of the walk, those taking part may also face cold winter weather, which could include snow and ice.
However, one advantage of walking on the plateau when it is frozen is that feet do not sink into the soft peat that covers the mountain.
