Love parks? Then love parks week is for you.
Love Parks Week is an annual campaign, organised by parks charity GreenSpace. It
highlights the importance of the UK’s parks and green spaces. Founded in 2006, the
campaign has grown steadily and is now established as a major event that is celebrated
in parks across the country.
Each year hundreds of events take place throughout the week, attracting extensive
media coverage and enabling people to make the most of their community’s green
spaces. These events are organised by local authorities, community groups, trusts,
sports groups large and big organisations, special interest clubs, basically, anyone who
is interested in holding an event in a park or public green space. Every event counts,
no matter how small! Over the years we’ve seen yoga for children, nature trails, poetry
picnics, face painting, practical workshops, music gigs, athletics, carnivals and theatrical
performances; demonstrating that there really is something for everyone to enjoy
Last year Love Parks Week saw over 800 events registered across the country providing
opportunities for nearly half a million people to get together outdoors and make the most
of what our parks offer.
